How do I book a session?

I'm a member, how do I bring a guest?

When you book your spot on Badminton England, there will be an option to add a guest. The guest payment link is sent along with the member payment link in the WhatsApp group chat - make sure they've paid before bringing them
How do I pay?

Payment is made through a SumUp payment link, sent in advance of the session. We can also send you the link on arrival. This accepts most cards, Apple Pay, and Google Pay. No cash is accepted at any of our sessions.
Why become a member?

Members gain several benefits: - Lower session prices - see the sessions section for detail - Priority booking - Earlier access to our social and tournament events
How do I join?

To become an LYC member you need to join through the Badminton England Website. You will need a Badminton England membership before joining LYC. Please follow the steps in the BE website to complete both memberships. Please follow our guide here for further details. If you have any troubles, please contact us below and someone will be in touch.
Can I join partway through the year?

Yes, you can join as a member any time throughout the year. Our membership year runs from 1st October to 30th September. Our membership price will be charged on a pro-rata basis, so you only need to pay for the remaining portion of the year.
Can I just drop in?

No, our sessions are usually full! Please make a booking first, to avoid disappointment
What do I need to bring?

We have a couple of spare rackets that can be borrowed in an emergency - eg broken strings. We recommend bringing your own. In addition to your racket we recommend bringing non-marking court shoes, water/water bottle. Feather shuttles will be provided.
Do I need to be a certain level to play?

Check out Sessions tab that will have grade requirements for each individual session. However, if you are not sure, it is best to attend our Sunday session that is open to all players.
Can I come without a membership?

Yes, you can play up to 3 times as a guest. After this we will request you to become a member. Check out the guide from Anakin for how to book. We offer a limited number of guest sessions per event. If you have any trouble getting on a session, please contact us using the online form below to speak with us to secure your guest spot.
What shuttles do you use?

We use feather shuttles, 77 speed.
Is there free parking at the sessions?

At the Sunday session, parking is free on the roads around the centre, including on single yellow lines usually - check signage. On Wednesday at Queensbridge, parking is free on the roads outside the centre after 18:30. We can't take any responsibility for parking violations, this is just advice - do check the signs!
Can I ask to play with a specific partner?

Yes! Our system allows for this - just let a committee member know at the start of the session and we can set this up.
